Cloud Home
What started as a two story addition became a complete remodel including all new systems of this small cape. Disguising the size of the addition and renovation took the form of a Nantucket dormer on the front for additional headroom, vaulted ceilings throughout the second floor, and an addition whose massing is about two thirds of the original house but is turned ninety degrees such that it hides behind from the views from the street. It is hard to tell how much additional space there is.
The excellent tastes of the homeowners allowed us to dress the house with white oak custom cabinetry, matte white oak floors and pale tile and white marble. Natural light bounces around the house all times of day. The overall effect of the minimalist material palette is life in a cloud: peaceful and calm.
